Freemed-YiRC: Group
In Freemed-YiRC there is a concept called groups. In it's most basic function in Freemed-YiRC, it's used for grouping contacts together for a specific purpose, or for representing a location. Contacts are associated with groups, as well as Resource locations.
A group can represent many different things:
- A group may represent a physical location... i.e., an office building or a school.
- It may also be used to represent a section of a physical location, if a physical location is divided in such a fashion... say a campus of sorts.
- A group may also represent a method of linking multiple users together for a purpose. An example of this would be to share a common calendar, or form an e-mail group. Some agencies segregate their locations (group homes, foster homes, schools, etc...) by region. So a group may represent a region.
Both users and clients can be members of groups, and each may be a member of any number of multiple groups. However, there is only ever one primary group for each user or client.
